The order of play for solo piping and drumming competitions is available for download here. Registration confirmation and entry tickets were mailed and should be arriving shortly.
The 2011 Maine Highland Games will take place on August 20, 2011. The games are returning to the Topsham Fairgrounds in Topsham.
The nearest airport is the Portland International Jetport (PWM), 30 miles south of Topsham, which is serviced by many major airlines.
The sponsor hotel for the games is the Days Inn in Brunswick, ME, just a few miles from the games site.
Entry forms are posted! Please see the link above (2011 Registration Form)
We are looking forward to receiving your entry!
Thanks!
Thanks once again to everyone who participated in the piping and drumming competitions this year. We had over 50 solo competitors and six bands, and we hope you’ll consider coming back next year.
The results from the competitions are now posted on this website, and will be posted on the EUSPBA website within a few days.
Please note that the grade 4 band competition results were announced incorrectly at the closing ceremonies. The correct results should be:
1. New Hampshire Pipes & Drums IV
2. Fredericton & District Pipe Band
3. Highland Light Scottish Pipe Band
Thanks again to everyone who participated, and especially to the stewards and volunteers. The competitions cannot happen without you, so thanks very much for coming out!
Maine Highland Games new venue
As you probably know, the Games this year is moving to a new venue, the Topsham Fairgrounds. We’re sad to leave Thomas Point Beach, but we’re hoping the new venue is a little better suited to the number of visitors that the Games has been attracting over the past few years.
Attached is the map of the venue that will appear in the program. Staging areas for bands are on the left (south) side of the map, and band contests will happen on the main parade field. Bring a tent or other source of shade, because there isn’t much available. Solo piping will take place on the north end of the field, near gate #1. The piping registration table will be in that vicinity.
The postmark deadline for solo and band entries is this Saturday, just four days away. The order of play of solo events will be mailed to all registered competitors about one week before the games. We’ll see you there!
Two weeks left
There are just two weeks left before the registration deadline for the solo and band competitions at the Maine Highland Games. Go ahead and get those entry forms in!
Judges confirmed for 2010
We’re happy to announce that the judges for the solo and band competitions have been confirmed for 2010. Returning from 2009 are piping judges Nancy Tunnicliffe from Lanesboro, MA and Chuck Murdoch from Vernon, CT, and snare drumming judge Norman MacLeod from Lee, MA. Also returning is piping judge Lezlie Webster from Concord, NH, who judged for us in 2007. We’re happy to welcome piping judge Patrick Regan from Pittsburgh, PA, who will be judging at Maine for the first time.
We hope to see you at the games. We’re inside of two months now!
